Hamdryad / Greek Mythology

Hamdryads are tree nymphs, which are referred to as the spirits of nature living in forests in Greek mythology. These fairies are a special species, a particular type of nymph. It is believed that every tree in the forest has a hamdryad and has a duty to protect the trees. Hamdryads are born attached to a certain tree. Their lifespan is as long as the trees they live in and they cannot be separated from their trees. In short, they are born with trees and die with them. In ancient Greece, the belief in hamdryads was very common among the people. They even applied to the religious authorities to cut down trees and chose the trees that the hamdryads had left.
